Lots of good stuff above!
Second the portabello...get a giant one fresh from your local market, throw some wine vinegar (or just wine!) and basil on it, and grill or fry up whole. Properly prepared, these things are as thick and juicy and darn near as tasty as a big, fat burger. Throw on some swiss and grilled onions and wow.
Also, the morningstar farms stuff/veggie meat substitute stuff mentioned above is pretty good...kind of hit and miss on some of it, you just have to see what you like.
As for the soy being bad for men, bah! If that's ALL you eat, yeah, like anything else, probably bad for you. My guess (and probably provable with data) is that you do more harm to your body eating conventional meat with all its antibiotics, hormones, etc.
The tofudibeest can be tasty...buy in cubes or cartons or as directed above.
My gf is completely vegetarian (except for eggs), so I have largely become that way out of respect for her. Not a real big deal, except yeah, when I smell those steaks cooking across the street, I breathe deep, buddy! I do enjoy the salmon steaks on the grill about once a month during grilling season. (Once a month = mercury concerns.)
I also get regular protein via yogurt, cashews and peanuts. PB&J is and always has been a staple of my diet. Refried bean burritos and dip are also prominent. And plenty of cheese, I haven't seen much cheese mentioned here, Grommit, and that is sad! Cheese and crackers = complete protein.
Good luck, and enjoy eating healthy...
