looking for an essay by Thoreau on ants, not that one
#1
Just read the chapter "Brute Neighbors" from "Walden"; what I'm looking for is not there.

I recall reading an essay by Thoreau about the relative sizes of things. The essay compared the size of an ant to a much larger animal. The small ant can drop from a decent height without being harmed. The larger animal would squish, if dropped from the same height.

Thoreau then discussed the various sizes of societies, and how size should affect how the government might be constructed.

Was this Thoreau? What might be the title of this essay? In what book?
