FYI - re carrying cases: I just bought a sweet little carrying case made by soundgear at Target for about $10. I can't find it on Target's website, but it's a perfect fit with the display covered in plastic and all the buttons open and accessible. It's fabric and light.

I found a slip case at CompUSA today, its the sumo case for the Ipod
it fits perfectly, the player fits inside snugly and is not loose enough for the player to fall out.
the overall case + player is very slim and it is padded and well constructed. Only downside is there is no way to see the display (obviously)..however, i've found that I can operate the 4 way button while the player is inside the case by feel (and I can consitently press the right buttons) without removing the player...works great! also, it was selling for 6.99 managers special today
overall, I'm pretty happy with the player. The sound is ok, I wish the equalizer had indiviual bands to adjust rather than preset settings. The unit is low on bass (compared to my sensa or minidisc), but it is adequate...also I've noticed that the player doesnt get as loud as other players, but again, it's loud enough to be loud - it just wont blow out your eardrums. then again, i'm no audiophile.
Otherwise, navigation is fast, menus are simple, file transfer is blazing fast, capacity is awesome, it plays VBR, unit is compact and well built - a great deal at 100 bucks.
The first one seems the best.
