weld on a new resonator.
Scrap the Aerostar or donate it to some worth cause- like your local high school auto repair program. Those things are gorgonzola anyway.
Alternately, try a quick fix on the tranny- Get some of that transmission "cleaner" stuff- put it in, run the tranny, drain and replace the filter, then see if it helped. I did that with an old dodge minivan, and it was right as rain for at least 2 more years. Sometimes the little ball valve gizmos just get gunked up over time. Tranny shops know this, but they ai'nt gonna tell you.
