Citibank credit cards now allows you to generate a random credit card number that actually isn't your own for online purchases so that if someone do get hold of it, they won't be able to use it. For PC's you can download a program to generate the numbers. For mac, you have to do it online. It's a pretty useful.

I find it very useful when I go online with a vendor that I have never heard of.

I don't know if other credit companies has this service.
