Howard Stern is incredibly funny, but mostly when he's just being 'himself,' and not doing prepared schtick.
His show can be incredibly juvenile, and visceral, and raw, and everything in life is a fair target for its humor, although, IMO, it never goes for out-and-out meanness.
Whenever others WRITE about what happens on Stern's show or tries to summarize or otherwise paraphrase the proceedings, they never do it justice. Howard has the unenviable task of being entertaining for 5 hours a day, 5 days a week, and generally pulls it off. He's underappreciated now*, but history will smile on him as one of the great humorists of our time.
*As 'underappreciated' as one can be who makes $100M a year.
