Please, let's not slam doctors for... um... wanting to DO THEIR JOB. If you want to play doctor and take meds on your own, go ahead. You can sue yourself after you screw up and end up in the hospital. But if you want me to do what I was trained to do, shut up and pay me. Unless you like designing web sites for free, or whatever you do. If I spent my day writing scrips for people who wanted to diagnose themselfs and self-prescribe, I wouldn't have any time to see people with good judgement who want to come in.
