A routine allergy symptom, easily treated with something either over the counter, or something that he has prescribed before, and would not be harmful to just have "as needed." Many of my patients have as needed meds available to them.
Something "unusual," you need to see them. Why some meds are prescription and others OTC is a debate unto itself, but in the meantime, if you want me to use my DEA number, you should come see me (I say this as I fill out prescription refill forms during lunch!).
