Don C stated:
"Now, after the reinstall,AW will not open at all! It now gives me an erro message that "The file is locked or already in use." Since I am double clicking the application, not a file, I have NO IDEA what file it is that is blocking the startup."
The problem seems to be solved, but it seems worth mentioning that many OSX applications are in reality packages. If you locate the "application" Appleworks 6 and hold down the control key and then click and hold the mouse on Appleworks 6, one of the contextual menu items is "Show Package Contents". If you select this you will see there are many files in this "application". And, of course, any of these files could be screwed up or missing, which could create problems. Reinstalling the "app" should then actually reinstall all the files within the package.
