Removing TiBook display...

I have no desire to save the LCD panel. It's messed up. I want to run this laptop as a headless unit. Can I just take the screws off the back and cut the cables? I assume that I'd have to fish the other ends out of the computer, but that's a whole lot easier than trying to take the logic board out (as iFixit.com suggests).
