Highly recommend the Canon Powershot S410. It is a 4 megapixel with 3X optical zoom. Uses compactFlash media. Excellent camera. I have one and am suggesting my daughter-in-law also get one. They are going for around $150 on eBay in excellent condition. Many folks have to have the latest and greatest and just keep replacing excellent cameras with something newer. Their biggest mistake is in thinking more megapixels is better. If you aren't going to print over 8 X 10 size you don't need anything over a 4 mp. Actually the more mp the larger storage cards you will need as each picture size will be huge.
I also have the Canon S1 IS and the Canon A620, both of which are great, but my favorite is the S410 because of it's smaller size and excellent pictures. It can be used as an easy point-n-shoot but also has many, many features for those who want to get even more involved. For the price, I don't think it can be beat.
