My point regarding education and technology had nothing to do with my credentials. My point regarding education and technology was twofold:
1. Education is about helping people, not about shaming them.
2. Making people feel stupid is something that I see technologically saavy people do all the time (very often in educational environments). It does nothing to further anyone's growth.
While I appreciate your point on the appositional nature of my use of "elmo3," my assumption was that you would have understood that I was using it to address you and that my voice in the first phrase was implied. But you are correct, according to the rules of grammar, you are entirely correct. So allow me to try it again in a new sentence:
Elmo3, speaking as someone who works both in education and technology, I would like to tell you that your response to Jerry's question troubles me.
Rules and being right seem important to you. I have no problem with that. I only ask that you don't impose that kind of a focus on someone who is only seeking information in a way different from your own learning style.
