Print 4x6 Photo: Cropping Question?

I just opened up iPhoto and constrained to 4x6 and it ended up cutting my (already edited) photo off too much...cut my dog's leg off, ouch! (But hey, it did print correctly to fill up the 4x6 photo, so that's awesome, thanks!)

Anyway, so I right-clicked and told it "Revert to Original" and it only went back one undo, not the original photo taken. Is it possible to go back to the original, unedited photo? What about for future photos, is there a way to make a copy of the original so you're editing the copy and not the original?
