Am I wrong?
Firefox upgrade will not import your bookmarks - it'll just use the same bookmark file that it's always used.

look here:
user/Library/application support/firefox/profiles
inside this folder is another folder called, "default.xxx" were xxx is different for every user. Look inside your profile. In that folder is a file called, "bookmarks.html".
That file has all of your bookmarks that you are currently using. Your toolbar links and everything!
I move from new machine to new machine all the time.
THE FIRST THING I DO is move my bookmarks to the new computer.
I install firefox first and then go to the profiles folder and replace the default bookmark file with MY bookmark file. Launch firefox and all is as it was on the old computer.
So... unless you are an absolutely hopeless dope, you should be able to follow these instructions and enjoy life.
Of course... this won't fix your crashing firefox problems. Most likely this is due to:
the website you are visiting
os 10.2.8 - VERY unstable OS
not enough ram
bad ram
perhaps even bad fonts
