[quote ka jowct]I second the notion of getting a dirt-cheap Smurf or low-end G4.
I have a serial ATA card and drive in my G4/450 and it works really well. However, it's an earlier drive (250GB Hitachi). I'm thinking of putting an SATA card into my home Smurf as well.
I agree, Sawtooth is a good idea. I would pay $25 for one without RAM or hard drive. I have the appropriate RAM modules and some spare hard drives. I'll have to keep my eyes open. I know there are deals out there. A Sawtooth or Gigabit Ethernet G4 would be perfect.
OWC Larry,
Thanks again for the support. I would be much obliged if you would let me clear the air again. I'm neither completely surprised nor upset the OWC 2+2 card doesn't work with my 7600. I was confused that the bridged PATA drive does sort of work, but the SATA drive would not at all. I did some research and then thought I would ask the question. That's all. Sorry things turned weird.
Thanks again.
Nathan
