why not the 20"?
Because of the space limitations of where the iMac is going. We had a 20" iMac (the one I use now, a G5 iMac) in the space and it didn't fit in the desk properly. It was cumbersome and oversized for the "cubby" of the desk. Replacing the desk isn't an option. She currently has a 17" iMac G4 and is happy with the screen size, esp in consideration of the work she does on it.
(Plus, remember, I'm a refugee living in a tiny house with three kids. I was living in a 2200 sf house in Metairie 'til Katrina took it; now we're in a 1200 sf house with (a) us, (b) everything that was in my old office, which was like a hundred plus sf, and © everything from a storage room and some other relatives houses (our stuff which was stored there) crammed in the closet.
Smaller is better.
why not just refuse shipment?
I asked about that on the phone and the rep was pretty adamant about accepting it and using the return label.
I'm glad to hear Apple didn't say FU.
That rep was probably the nicest Apple rep I ever spoke to. She thought I was sweet as heck, too, to be buying my wife a new iMac as a present while she was in Europe.
