Retrospect Express 6.1- Backup set file has no Retrospect icon
#4
Do a get info on the one with the generic icon and another get info on a set with correct icon. Check to see if they both show using Retrospect express 6.1 to “open with”, and if different change to correct open with Retrospect express 6.1on the generic icon. If it already shows the correct opening application, then do a simple copy and paste on the icons. (click on the correct icon in upper left of box to select it, hit command + C for copy and then in the second box with the generic icon click on the generic icon once to select it and then hit command + V to paste the correct icon and it should change. I occasionally have to do that in other applications notably dmg images from KDX sometimes get a generic icon or a KDX icon rather than the correct dmg icon and it is simply a cosmetic item and once changed works normally. I have never seen it in Retrospect but seems reasonable that the same procedure should correct the issue.
Also remember the old adage about backups, any backup is worthless until verified by doing a full restore to a spare media. Takes some extra time and effort but you will sleep better once you have tested and verified that your backup will do what you expect it to do in a testing environment rather than waiting for the disaster to strike and then praying that it will work as you expect. It is good practice and will give you familiarity with the way the program works in a non stressful practice environment.
