They were built on a Chevy Vega platform.
The ones with a V8 (262CI, and 305CI available), in order to change the passenger side spark plugs, you had to unhook the motor mount and jack up the engine. Just like the Vega, they were quality crap!
Yes, the Chevy dealership I worked for at the time in Albuquerque was responsible for all the crappy body kits and T-Top installations running around New Mexico.
We installed body kits on the Monza, Camaro, El Camino, Firebird, SkyHawk, and all GM's badge brothers. Wings, spoilers, side skirts, and stripes, all crap. I personally cut at least 200 roofs for T-Tops, I feel so dirty!
