Be sure to use a tinted primer and be prepared for at least a primer and two top coats. Red is hard to get good coverage with. You can always paint over the accent wall, if you don't like it. Just get a deeper shade to keep it from looking too bright.
Raplh Lauren Paint, sold at HD, makes a clear tint base for their deep/darker colors and it really makes a difference. Check out their color swatches they usually have good colors in the deep/dark shades. It is worth the little bit extra you pay not to have that white in the tint base. I think they may also have those little paint tester packs now that you can buy instead of buying a quart, but I'm not positive if HD has them or not.
