Y'all boys hold on a minute: as a true southerner, my advice is FORGET IT! That is, unless you are doing the skit in the midwest, etc., with not too many real southerners in the audience. A southerner can always tell a fake accent, and it really sounds awful, not to mention sometimes a little condescending and demeaning to the south. I know if I tried to do a midwest accent, you could tell I was not a midwesterner.
Anyway, for the skit, maybe a Foxworthy video might help you to listen and practice. I am a linguist, speak Japanese fluently, and suggest listening and repeating until you feel fairly comfortable and natural speaking in our accent... good luck with the skit, I am sure you will do great.
