My wife had a 1999 CRV ...and its CD player can be slow to recognize a home-mastered disc....but it rarely refuses to play whatever I throw at it. I remember hitting the wall a few times, but the advice above seems to cover the irregularites I would have mentioned.
Fortunately, newer Hondas (not all) have an auxilary port....better to just jack in your iPod, than mess with discs ANY day.
Short of that, there are other solutions, iTrip, etc...
My 2006 Honda Civic Si is the first car I've ever owned where I can ignore the CD player altogether, and just bring my iPod.
My wife's NEW 2006 CRV (the 1999 CRV was stolen recently) does NOT have aux in port. I was disappointed. I think all new cars should come digital music player (iPod) ready. And odd that Honda would include it on some cars, not others, and price of the car isn't a determining factor.
