The short battery life and bulky form factor put it in that strange middle ground. Too bulky to be pocketable, but not worth digging out of a messenger bag. Stick with a small laptop and a little black book :0)
I just sold my Clie (UX50) for pretty close to what I bought it for one year ago. Though I still carry a Tungsten E that has absolutely no extras except mp3 playback, and too slow for everything else. Just calendaring and notes to myself. Too slow to take notes for a class with a stylus or even hunt and peck keyboard.
GeneL, I think even if you attempted the battery repair, and it was not successful, that the parts would go for a pretty good price.
