This whole lawyer and greed-filled mess has really fouled up the advancement of technology as regards TV, and is going to fuel the downfall of the networks. The original TiVo and ReplayTV were/are absolutely great technologies, but since they debuted before HDTV, do not incorporate HDTV resolution. The current crop of garbage foisted on us by the cable companies (and now by TiVo) is all cripple-ware. It's really a shame that ReplayTV and TiVo did not debut after the start of HDTV. Oh well, for non-HDTV material, ReplayTV just can't be beat...I'll be hanging onto mine for a good long time.
