If I'm busy, I don't answer the door. If I'm not, I step outside and chat with the person. If the person looks like the typical starving college student who got suckered into a crap job where they get bused around, dropped off at one end of the neighborhood at 8 AM and picked up at the other end at 6 PM, get paid next to nothing to 'pay for their room and board'.. well, I step back in, put together a drink and a sandwich and donate that to their cause.
I had a college roomate who got suckered into doing that crap one year. He said it was akin to slavery. And he spent about four of the 12 weeks in one jail or another despite the company telling the kids that they had 'permission and permits' to be there.
Most of these kids are just trying to get by doing a crap job. Be nice to them.
