I consider myself one of the pumpkins first 50 fans. The Metro was a great place during the years I spent in college in the late 1980s. I saw the Pumpkins around the same time as you at Maxwell's in Hoboken, NJ. There were probably about 25 people in the entire joint. I went with a bunch of friends who liked the band's debut single, although I admit I was never much of a fan.
I met the band when they hit the big time and played Saturday Night Live. At the party after the show, the band acted like pompous, arrogant pr!cks and stiffed the waitress on a $400 bar tab.
But ya gotta love 114 songs for $10.
