I am an old AT&T (Cingular blue) customer who never switched to Cingular, so my SIM card is incompatible with current at&t phones.
I guess I'm in the same boat. Signed up with ATT before they became Cingular, never switched to a Cingular plan.
I am still really on the fence about the iPhone. If I were to get one, I don't think I would use the EDGE network that much -- just to call up Google maps while in the car or walking around or whatever, primarily. I have enough WiFi networks to jump on. But the little dude standing on my other shoulder is telling me that if I'm going to get a 2.5G phone, I might as well not spend $500-600 on one for now. On the other hand, spending $200 or so on a Treo 680 feels like throwing good money after bad, even if Palm syncing is already fully integrated into my workflow.
