I'll second the detailing as a first try to save some money. My daughter's '94 Corolla was really showing its age and she had talked about wanting to maybe get it painted. I thought about Maaco, but enough people here on the forum warned about shoddy work, etc. there. Anyway, I had a coupon for a $99 detailing (regular $139) so I figured we'd try that. Damn. The car looked practically new...well, as new as a 13 year old car with 150k miles can look. Money well spent as far as I'm concerned.
But now you can look forward to the fun of deciding where to get the detailing done. There are a bunch of folks out there who claim to be the best. And prices can range anywhere from $75 to a few hundred. Try to get some referrals.
