I'm still working with Office X as well. I don't have an Intel Mac yet and it seems to be working okay for me. At work I use Office 2000 via Crossover on Linux... I guess the two versions are relatively compatible with each other. I'm not a real heavy user of the Office programs - I mainly use it for some of the paperwork associated with my job.
Seems like I have been skipping every other 'upgrade' - I had Word 5, then used that to upgrade to Office 98 when I bought my first iMac. I upgraded to Office v.X a little while after it came out because I had some concern about trying to keep Office 98 going via Classic. I purchased Office v.X on 11/24/01 so I've been using it for six years now.
I've been glad to hear that people have been able to use vX in Leopard - good to know because I wouldn't be ready to upgrade right away. Then again I'm still using Panther most of the time so it may be a while before I go to Leopard anyway.
