iPhone...the untold story
#11
"It was a late morning in the fall of 2006. Almost a year earlier, Steve Jobs had tasked about 200 of Apple's top engineers with creating the iPhone. "

This is very dramatic, but highly misleading.

The writer is suggesting that Apple launched the iPhone project in 2005? Not a chance. The iPhone had been in development for years before that.

We know the iPod was famously rushed into production, and was a stunning success. From conception to market was a historically short amount of time. Books were written about it, careers built on it. Moments like this will be studied at Harvard Business School for decades.

But the iPhone had a longer lead time. Jobs began teasing observers with sly comments since at least 2002. An "Apple Phone" had been rumored, discussed, developed, reworked, fixed, negotiated, patents were applied for, shadowy details were leaked, for years and years and years before this 2006 meeting.

I wonder why this article makes it look like Apple pulled the talent together for the iPhone project only two or three years ago? Suspiciously misleading.
