I thought you intended to try the Logitech pref pane again and wanted to know what settings I used on the premise that perhaps the difference between your mouse's trouble and my mouse-s trouble-free operation was to do with a setting in the pref pane.

I still think you should try plugging the usb dongle into a different port, preferably one built into your computer. your symptom strongly resembles a USB problem and not software.
