I always thought the TiVO was a pretty respectable device, with a Mac-like imitation interface. There were even rumors-- with questionable degrees of credibility -- that Apple would buy TiVO.
If you like ordering your movies via a Cable or Dish service (I've seen Comcast's "On Demand" content, and haven't been exactly impressed) and are happy with TiVO's solutions, the AppleTV isn't for you.
