Okay, try this. Put a blindfold on. Then completely reinstall system software on your computer. No peeking. Do it completely without being able to see anything on your display to respond to anything with your mouse or keyboard.

Are you saying that when you boot off of the OSX Install DVD, you also don't get any video. If that's the case, then it seems very unlikely that reinstalling will make any difference, and you've got some sort of hardware problem or video card / monitor incompatibility.
