Where are all the good deals for Parallels?
#7
I have been using Parallels 3.0/XP Pro on my Mac Pro for the last 3 months. I had a few unexpected quits and a few Windows errors (don't know if that's normal or not) but for the most part; it has worked fine for me.

It's a little sluggish at times. Not Virtual PC slow but you notice things slowing down on processor intensive tasks.

One problem that is very annoying is after using Parallels for a while; I get lines across the screen in the Windows window. They if you scroll you end up with many lines. The only way to get rid of this is to reboot and wonder when it's going to happen again.

I am using it in the production of a 120 page monthly publication. The publisher started it on a PC and wants to keep it PC based (yuck). The job pays well so I live by that rule.

I like the idea of being able to use OS X and Windows at the same time but I want speed. All out speed...no slowdown whatsoever. I could run Windows through Boot Camp but then I don't have access to the Mac desktop without rebooting.

I am seriously considering buying a cheaper dedicated PC run this job on. That way I get the benefits of having my Mac desktop available at all times and I get maximum speed while using the PC.
