I thought he was a pretty bright guy, too, as a pop economist and public figure (and particularly enjoy Ben's early loyal allegiance to Richard Nixon, re: the famous letter, filled with the earnest passion and moist sincerity of a boy scout) until Ben unveiled himself as a creationist-theory advocate, posturing as a victimized, persecuted Christian.
But now that I realize he's actually given birth (I didn't even know Ben was pregnant) to someone, a biologically rare thing for a male to do, I suppose it's understandable that his view of evolution and creation are different than the rest of us.
