at the risk of veering off topic (i won't) - belief and logic do not often overlap much.
i think computer choice is not so much faith/belief as being stubborn and/or cheap.
as we all know well, every computer can crash, require an OS reinstall, or have a hard drive or other component die prematurely. adding the high risk and bother of spyware defense seems like too much work to me.
