That happens to me with Yahoo POP using Entourage as well. I now have 3-4 copies of duplicates on older messages because of this.
Think its a problem on the Yahoo side so the client gets confused.
As a result and due to faster searching, I've mostly given up on email client use with Yahoo and have switched to using their newer web mail.
Really wish Yahoo implemented IMAP, but I've been using Gmail much more so because of that.
