One alternative- my favourite event in this case. I
was driving towards the airport in Pittsburgh in heavy traffic. A fellow in an "I'm a Captain of Industry" car and suit blew up to within inches of my rear bumper. He laid on his horn, and began gesticulating angrily at me. I could not turn out of the lane, so I did the next best thing. I slowed down to the legal speed limit.
We drove that way for a mile or so, him honking and making obscene gestures, me listening to classical music on the radio and driving right at 55. Then traffic eased up, I pulled back into the slow lane, and he blew past me foaming at the mouth and screaming at me. Downhill. The LONG hill just before the airport. Where there was an almost permanent police speed trap.
As I approached the middle of the next hill, I passed our hero, pulled over in front of a police cruiser, head in his hands. As I passed, I smiled, blew him a kiss, and waved saucily.
That happened almost 20 years ago, and I will always treasure that moment.
