This device won't require a PC and will make it simple to watch a movie on your TV. If you have your PC/mac already connected to your TV in your living room, then I agree that you won't need this (except that there is no Watch Now for OSX).
That being said, I'm not sure how many people have the reliable bandwidth to stream 480p (853 x 480). Also, sound is not DD5.1. Quality will be better than cable, amazon unbox but less than DVD, HD satellite.
You can't beat the price if you are already a netflix subscriber though. $99 + $0 monthly.
