Dang man, too bad you didn't have an iPhone with you, in the car. There's a couple killer apps that can "name that tune" after only about 15 seconds. Launch the app, let your iPhone hear what's coming out of your car radio, and it can identify the song.
Artist, release date, album, the works. Shazam, and midomi are the two apps I'm aware of. And they really work. And that's the perfect situation.
