Follow-Up: Yes, I did go the Doctor for that sore throat... (Strep it is!)

[quote Lux Interior]Thanks for staying home.

I never understood the "going to work when you feel like death warmed over" thing. My wife does this and it annoys me to no end! Our lives aren't like the movies where you miss a day of work and the "Boss" decides you aren't dedicated enough and gives the other guy the "big promotion".

"But I have a meeting!"

Cancel it, I say. No one likes damn meetings anyway!
I feel the same way you do but it's rather hard to do that when you have a boss that seems to passive aggressively frown on taking a sick day.

Boss says, "I never use sick days. I have to be REALLY sick before I'll stay home."

& then when you take maybe 2-3 sick days a year says, "gee, you seem to get sick a lot."

I prefer to stay home when I'm ill for 2 reasons - 1. To avoid spreading the cold or whatever around and 2. If I'm not feeling well, how can I do decent work? Honestly - if someone's sick & feeling like they should crawl back into bed for a few days, how productive are they gonna be sitting at a desk, doped up on the latest cold meds?
