Regarding the thread-level appearance, the post-level subject, user and date from the old layout (or the current dealmac layout) truly is more functional, even though there's extra text present (the "posted by" and "Date" labels.) The reason is because it manages to convey the information in a concise, space-saving way. Lotta "air gaps" now, and the little "person" icon (is that where an avatar would go?) needs to be deleted without a second thought. The date without the date label now blends in more with the post text at first glance.
PM and Ignore links are redundant. Make us click on the user's name to do that stuff.
"Goto" menu should be at the top of the thread page. Wait! It is! I missed it without the gray border. Still doesn't really need to ALSO be at the bottom of the threads.
Make sig text one or two points smaller than post text.
Regarding this post entry box: With only two options to click, can't they be placed side-by-side? The author/username is superfluous, unless there's been a widespread problem of users who think they are logged in as themselves but really they aren't?? If you keep it, consider also placing Subject to the right of it, not below.
