I figured it out! Yessiree I did! Back in the 1960s, the Dems decided to give out vouchers for food instead of letting people starve. Now, had they not done that, not only would there have been some deaths due to starvation during the 1960s (most likely of kids), which would have immediately reduced the population, those deaths also would have reduced the number of births throughout another couple of generations. With fewer people - and especially with fewer "low lifes" who don't carry their own weight and work and need others to buy their food for them with tax dollars provided by the responsible folks - the costs associated with a number of other federally funded programs would have decreased, too. Gee, education costs would have been lower, social service costs would have been lower, which means there would have been all kinds of savings to the federal budget. What a great way to reach the Republican goal of smaller government!!
Now, what I don't understand is why, during those periods of time when there was a hefty Republican majority, the food stamp program wasn't eliminated by them. Hmmmm. They could have done that so easily, so I wonder why they didn't? Could it be they knew that would have been the wrong thing to do? No? Well, maybe in that case they just decided to keep it in place, so there would be one more thing to blame the Democrats for at some point in time when they were really desperate. No, that's not it, either? Huh, I wonder what it was then? I guess we'll never know, since this poster seems to assume we can follow his line of logic through links to charts.
By the way, BL, I really think you could do better.
