While reading about this topic, I was reminded about the success of Tyler Perry's films.
You see, with something like Madea's Family Reunion, I don't get it. I don't get the humor, the success, nothing. But that's only because I'm not the target audience. I don't have the background, experience, or knowledge to "get" the movie.
Neither am I a woman who's in such financial straits that she could really appreciate a gift certificate to get basic medical services at Planned Parenthood.
In both cases, if I don't "get" something, or if I think "that sure sounds odd to me!"...it's just my head, not the world, that's of limited experience. Different parts of the world might make complete sense, regardless of my initial, limited, thoughts.
