Entourage (the app, not the TV show)
#7
I am a big Entourage fan. I use it for both work and personal email. I got hooked on Claris Emailer back in the mid-'90s (the grandfather of Entourage). After Apple unwisely killed Claris Emailer, I read that M$ hired their team to create Entourage. Now normally I also despise the Redmond offerings (I still hate Turd), but I gave them a pass on Entourage b/c they hired unemployed Apple engineers. That, and the program never gives me any guff.

It has worked out great for me for nearly 10 years now. I've been on the 2008 Office version for the past 6 months or so. I tried Mail several years back but didn't much care for it. It was somewhat unstable then. Now I hear it is good. But I'm happy with Entourage, so there's no real reason for me to switch. It just works.

Also plays nice with my iPhone. Basically, I use my phone to check email if I'm gonna be away from the office. The messages are left on the server so I can also get them when I get home via my MacBook. I don't have syncing set up b/c it's not worth it for me on the phone as I only use it for email about once or twice a month. I do have it set to sync my Entourage & iCal actions and contacts and they come up fine on my iPhone.

I haven't really noticed any quirks or instability. I do need to cull down the 5,000 or so emails in my inbox, though...as every once in a while I have to do a rebuild (no biggie, a few buttons and the program does all the work). Contacts work fine, calendar works fine, no complaints here. I have never had a catastrophic incident in nearly 10 years of using Entourage. That is saying a lot.

One caveat: I think older versions of Entourage (v. X, not sure about 2004) had a 2gb data limit. I don't think that is the case any longer, or I would be in serious trouble!
