I signed up for the 200 for $5 and at the time my good friend said something along the lines "You know, 200 texts is nothing". He told me his early teenage son probably comes close to 2000 a month (I think that was the number). I laughed and told him I'd use the email instead (or as a supplement) if I found 200 wasn't enough. He told me not everyone has email on their phone and I told him at the rates for unlimited texting, that's their problem ;-)
The text thing is a scam and ripoff. I refuse to be gouged and am in part being cheap but also telling AT&T to piss off by not buying into it. I get the whole "kids want to text" thing but again, it's certainly not a luxury I'd provide at those rates. I'm also getting old!
