imac g4 memory help

Ok I remove the user accessible ram and found that the imac still boots.

So,

Dimm0/J22 Empty is the user accessible

Dimm 1/J20 256 DDR SDram PC2700U - 25330

This means the Apple brand chip in the user accessible slot is bad or its something with the slot itself.

I don't have the original disks so I can't do the apple hardware tests.

So I booted of my Firewire drive that has 10.4.10 installed and when I open System preferences it says;

Diagnostics
Last Run 12/29/08 2:50pm
Result: Failed
Failure Type: Memory
Memory Slots: Dimm0/J22

So my guess is the Ram is out of Spec?
