The election is over. Why are the Dems still playing politics?

I was referring to the way everyone on the right keeps saying that there has been No Change Yet. It's been three weeks. THAT is what I was referring to as the anticipated seismic event -- that anyone would possibly think that Obama could completely overturn the way D.C. does business in 25 days or even less. Practically everyone I know voted for Obama and not one of them thought he was going to have cleaned up Dodge City by February 13th. It's the right that keeps pretending he promised us that.

I see what you're saying $tevie and agree with you. The monumental task of bringing change to our nation will not be a fast recovery. In fact, I think Obama won at the worst possible moment in our history.

Placing the fact that Obama is a black man aside, this is a new era where Democrats rule in a way they haven't in a generation. Control of the White House, control of Congress - the potential for change and reform should be limitless. If I've read this correctly, we're at a balance in Congress where republicans can't even stage a filibuster and the people are ready for change - this is unprecedented.

Instead, what we're observing now isn't really much of a change. We're still talking about the same politicians, with the same mindset, doing the same things that have led us to our current predicament. Look at the vote on the stimulus package: a 1000+ page document that must be voted on right away because Nancy Pelosi is going on a trip? The nation's economy is in shambles and she wants to punt a bill through Congress because she can't delay (or cancel) the trip? Receiving a medal is more important than taking the time to craft and pass a bill that will affect the people she's supposed to represent?

Add to that the fact that there simply isn't enough time to read and digest the bill and what are we seeing? Business as usual.

With this approach, change will never come to our nation.
