I went the other route and learned blacksmithing and knifemaking...
Never did "scale up" to projects that big though... though it was always my intent.
Amazing how games of "D" got into discussions of zoology, geology, physics, metallurgy, chemistry, seamanship, marksmanship, leatherworking, woodworking, carpentry, architechture... and I could go ON and ON, and ON...
Role playing games gave me more insights into so MANY fields that I would have NEVER researched....
I spit upon the "video game" that has replaced using ones mind and imagination, like D&D.
