How does eating skew a blood test?

Being diagnosed pre-diabetic was probably one of the better things that happened to me. After being forced to examine my diet, and having the motivation to get regular (daily) cardio exercise, I can honestly say that I'm in the best shape I've ever been in, and definitely like the results. It really was just a side-effect of following doctor's orders, but I'm not complaining...

Exact same situation here, came down to a choice of start treating it with drugs or make it go away through diet and exercise so I got serious about it and lost 35 pounds in 4 months through a lot of exercise (rowing 45 minutes a day 7 days a week) and watching what I eat, needed to get 3 holes punched in my belt, and had two sets of blood tests during that time confirming that I was out of the borderline range and back to normal. Still need to continue this to get back to my college or maybe high school weight and then try to maintain it.
