Other World Computing / Macsales.com site update
#27
Wow! I can't believe all these people like the new site. They must all be engineers, not designers (mick e excepted of course). I think the top third of the page is a train wreck. You have WAAAAAAY too much stuff up there. Clutter! Clutter! Clutter! Hasn't your "designer" ever heard about the value of "white space"?

I wasn't that thrilled with the old site but at least the tabs were something easy to zoom in on to get where you were going. Your new row of buttons that replaces the tabs is marginally OK (though not distinguished well enough from all the other junk up there) but the simple headings are gone (e.g. you've replaced "Hard Drives" with the horrible mess of "Internal Storage 3.5"/2.5"/HDD/SSD + External Storage Firewire/USB/eSATA". WTF?!?!?! That is absurd.

For a start, get rid of "quick and reliable delivery..." line, the large, useless and distracting "more memory - faster performance storage solutions to fit your needs" banner, and the "New look" badge. While you're at it get rid of that anomalous "Find what's right for ANY mac" button floating out there in a completely incongruous location...nobody will ever click on it in that location anyway.

Also, the bottom third of the site is completely superfluous, both because any reader getting that far already has suffered severe mental overload and because repeats a lot of choices above. Seriously, does there really need to be THREE "Specials" buttons on the page? Also, get rid of all those distracting colorful logos that NOBODY WILL EVER PAY ANY ATTENTION TO.

Your site is the absolute opposite of the Apple clean look.

Other than that, great job ::o
